We’re off down south to End of the Road Festival this weekend to see out the last days of Summer. Taking place at Larmer Tree Gardens in Dorset, it features an amazing line-up of Americana, folk and indie artists including Magnolia Electric Co., Fleet Foxes, Explosions in the Sky, Richmond Fontaine and Dirty Projectors. We’ll be chirping away about what we’re up to throughout the weekend, probably accompanied by blurry cameraphone shots.

One of the artists we’re most excited about seeing is bluesman Charlie Parr, who played at Colour back in February. It was  a performance that ranks as one of our favourites: if you are at the festival, you must check him out. He’s headlining the Tipi Tent on Saturday night and we’re convinced you’ll be blown away by his stirring original material and dramatic rearrangements of traditional numbers.

In other End of the Road related news The Broken Family Band have announced that their forthcoming tour, which kicks of at the festival, will be their last. After eight years together, the folk-rockers have decided to “quit while we’re ahead”. I really enjoyed their upbeat set at Green Man 2007 and while I’ve never really explored their recorded output much it’s sad to see them go.
