On Thursday 12 November, we’ll be collaborating with Ikon for the Eastside Closing Party, entitled On/Off. The theme of the party will echo the binary principles central to the work of Japanese electronic composer and artist Ryoji Ikeda. Lighting and dress code will be monochrome, while we’ll be showcasing a suitably electronic musician (to be announced soon) and assembling DJ sets that will be both digital in feel and have a party  atmosphere later in the evening.

From 15 October to 8 November, Ikon Eastside will host an exhibition of Ikeda’s work, which explores the minutiae of sound in its raw form. For this show, work such as data.tron (above) make evident the data that courses  through the backgrounds of our everyday existence, with this particular projection immersing the viewer in a vast stream of strictly calculated numbers. Ikon will also present Ikeda’s first UK performance since 2006, datamatics [ver.2.0] at CBSO Centre on Tuesday 24 November.
