Woodenbox With A Fistful Of Fivers 6Music Session

Gloriously bearded Scottish wonders Woodenbox With A Fistful Of Fivers – who play Colour on 4 March – performed a session for Marc Riley last night on 6Music. Featuring the two singles that gained them a great reputation in 2009, as well as a song from their fantastic forthcoming album Home And The Wild Hunt, it was a rousingly raucous  performance that highlights why this band are one of the most promising in the UK right now. I particularly love the session version of ‘Twisted Mile’, which accelerated away from their brass-augmented Americana towards a frantic klezmer finale.
